George WardGeorge Ernest Ward (b1840 d1919) arrived in South Australia in 1856 and was 19 when he worked on board the Admella as a cabin boy. He survived the wreck and shortly after moved to Kameruka, near Bega NSW, where he worked as a stockman, dairyman and then became one of the managers of hte Estate where he lived and worked for 50 years. From his humble beginnings as a carpet weaver's assistant at age 11, be became president of the Jockey Club, Guardian of Minors, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Affidavits and the Chairman of the Recruiting Committee and the Voluntary Aid League. He married Mary Ann Selina Butler in 1863 and they had 12 children; one was named Admella.
George's granddaughter, great grandson and great grandchildren, and also descendants of George's brother John and sister Anne have registered with the Committee.
